Post Malone's 'beerbongs & bentleys' Tops Billboard 200

  /  05.07.2018

Post Malone posts big numbers. The genre-bending crooner’s sophomore album beerbongs & bentleys shatters streaming records with a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200.

The figures are astounding. Earning 461,000 equivalent album units (153,000 traditional), the set reached several milestones. For example, b&b notched the biggest overall week for an album this year. Plus, its 288,000 streaming equivalent album units makes it the biggest streaming week of all time.

As his first No. 1 album, beerbongs adds to Malone’s success. His debut album Stoney jumped to No. 9 with 32,000 units, giving him two LPs in the top 10. It’s the first time an act reached this feat since Linkin Park did it last year (with One More Light and Hybrid Theory after lead singer Chester Bennington’s death). Meanwhile, it’s the first time a soloist has achieved this, since Future did it with HNDRXX and Future in April of last year.

Malone used a special technique to help drive sales. He bundled the album with tickets for his tour with 21 Savage, which kicked off last month.

Elsewhere on the chart, J. Cole’s KOD falls to No. 3, Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy invades the No. 4 spot, Janelle Monáe’s Dirty Computer lands at No. 6, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again arrives at No. 7 with Until Death Call My Name.
