Kanye West's 'ye' Headed for No. 1 Debut
Ye is about to go No. 1 again.
Kanye West’s new album, ye, is headed for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200, according to early sales forecasts. The 7-track album, which was released on June 1, is expected to sell over 175,000 equivalent album units in its first week.
It will mark Kanye’s eighth chart-topping solo effort, and ninth overall, counting 2011’s joint album with JAY-Z, Watch the Throne. All of his albums have debuted at No. 1, except for his 2004 debut The College Dropout, which peaked at No. 2.

West last topped the chart in 2016 with The Life of Pablo. If he does capture the No. 1 spot, Kanye will tie Eminem for the second-most No. 1s by a hip-hop act, following JAY-Z with a total of 14.
ye‘s success continues. According to a Def Jam press release, the album has received over 100 million streams worldwide in three days. It is No. 1 on iTunes in 63 countries and currently occupies the top 7 songs on Apple Music.
Kanye could be looking at another No. 1 in his future. His joint album with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts, is set for release this Friday (June 8).
