XXL Reveals 2018 Freshman Class

Meet the 2018 Freshman Class.

XXL has revealed its annual list of rising stars. Now in its 11th year, this year’s Freshman Class includes Lil Pump, BlocBoy JB, Ski Mask the Slump God, Smokepurpp, J.I.D, Stefflon Don, YBN Nahmir, Wifisfuneral, and Trippie Redd.

“I’m doing something right ’cause it’s a stepping stone,” said Atlanta’s J.I.D., while Trippie Redd added, “It plays a big part in the culture. I don’t care who you are.”

The 10th spot winner was Lil Skies, who reportedly refused to participate in the cover shoot after originally accepting the offer.

The new class joins Freshman alumni including Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Anderson .Paak, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, and Travis Scott.

As usual, XXL will release freestyles, cyphers, interviews, and roundtable discussions from the 2018 Freshman Class in the weeks ahead. All nine artists will hit the stage to perform at the XXL Freshman show in New York City on July 11, followed by a Los Angeles concert on July 19.
