Drake's 'Scorpion' Goes Platinum

  /  07.03.2018

Drake can add another platinum plaque to his wall.

His 25-track double album Scorpion was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America upon its release on June 29, thanks to the success of the chart-topping singles “God’s Plan” and “Nice for What.”

The album has shattered single-day streaming records on Apple Music and Spotify and broke the one-week streaming record in just three days with over 435 million streams in the U.S. It is set to debut at No. 1 on next week’s Billboard 200 chart with an estimated 700,000 equivalent album units, marking the biggest week for an album in 2018.

At this rate, Scorpion could surpass 700 million streams in the U.S. by the end of the tracking week on July 5.

In addition to his platinum certification, Drake has reached another RIAA milestone. He was named the Top Digital Song Artist with 142 million digital singles to date.
