Travis Scott Reveals 'AstroWorld' Cover

  /  07.31.2018

With AstroWorld just days away, Travis Scott has revealed the cover art for his new album.

Shot by famed photographer David LaChapelle, the whimsical artwork shows kids at an amusement park with Travis’ giant gold head as the main attraction. A similar inflatable gold head has appeared atop buildings and landmarks including L.A.’s Amoeba Records, Atlanta’s Magic City, Times Square, and Minute Maid Park in Travis’ hometown of Houston.

The album was named after the defunct theme park in Houston. “They tore down AstroWorld to build more apartment space [in 2005],” Travis told British GQ Style. “That’s what it’s going to sound like. Like taking an amusement park away from kids. We want it back. We want the building back. That’s why I’m doing it. It took the fun out of the city.”

Earlier in the week, Travis revealed the post-apocalyptic trailer for the follow-up to 2016’s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight. He has been in the studio with collaborators including NAV, Gunna, Don Toliver, Sheck Wes, Allen Ritter, Amir “Cash” Esmailian, Frank Dukes, Sonny Digital, WondaGurl, and Wheezy.

The park opens Friday, Aug. 3.
