New Music: Ella Mai feat. Chris Brown - 'Whatchamacallit'

The secret’s out. Ella Mai and Chris Brown’s long-awaited collaboration “Whatchamacallit” is here.

After teasing the track back in September of 2017, the R&B singers finally unite for Ella’s debut album. Over the snapping instrumental, they sing about a secret love affair.

“It ain’t cheating / It’s a whatchamacallit,” they sing. “This could be our little secret, a whatchamacallit.”

The collaboration was a long time coming for Ella, who grew up listening to Breezy’s music. “Vocally, he’s amazing,” she said. “If he didn’t come out the way he did and make the music that he did, I think I would be a completely different artist. He’s influenced an entire generation.”

Ella’s self-titled debut arrives Oct. 12. In addition to Breezy, the album features appearances from John Legend and H.E.R.
