New Music: Rapsody feat. J. Cole - 'Sojourner'

  /  10.26.2018

Rapsody and J. Cole link up on their new collaboration “Sojourner.”

Over 9th Wonder’s soulful production, the North Carolina MCs take turns showing out with their witty wordplay. Cole drops some introspective bars and confesses his fears. “Scared that I’m too disconnected from the kids’ perspective,” he raps. “The world ain’t got no patience for some shit that’s introspective.”

Rapsody follows, cleverly name dropping Swae Lee, Meek Mill, and Birdman (“Scared to grow wings, Birdman with a bunch of Carter beef”).

The song is the first release from Jamla Is the Squad II, the sequel to 2014’s 9th Wonder Presents: Jamla Is the Squad, due Nov. 9. The 22-track album is also set to feature contributions from Busta Rhymes, Black Thought, Big K.R.I.T., and more.
