Nicki Minaj Shares Support for 6ix9ine Following Arrest

  /  11.21.2018

Nicki Minaj is standing by 6ix9ine’s side.

Following his indictment for racketeering, armed robbery, and drug trafficking, the embattled MC is getting support from his friend and collaborator. Taking to social media, Minaj posted the cover for Tekashi’s Dummy Boy and announced the album’s delay.

“For reasons beyond music, the record company will hold off on putting his project out for now,” she told her 95 million Instagram followers.

The Queen also penned a heartfelt message to Tekashi, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, and his family. “Danny, I love you and am praying for you, your Mother, daughter & her Mom during this time,” wrote Nicki.

She is featured on two songs off Dummy Boy, including the top 5 hit “FEFE” and “MAMA” with Kanye West. The project, which also features Tory Lanez, Bobby Shmurda, and Gunna, was set to drop Friday (Nov. 23), but has been delayed indefinitely following 6ix9ine’s arrest.

Tekashi’s team also confirmed the delay in an Instagram post. “Due to circumstances beyond our control we have postponed the release of Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Dummy Boy until further notice,” reads the message.

Despite the backlash from social media, Minaj has remained loyal to the controversial rapper. She even invited him to perform “FEFE” with her at the MTV Video Music Awards, but the “powers that be” vetoed the idea. “I wanted him to perform with me at the VMAs,” she said during her Queen Radio show. “I don’t want anyone to think for a second that I wouldn’t invite him to perform his hit record. I want everyone to know my character. I really fought.”

She continued to vouch for her friend. “When I know somebody there’s nothing you can tell me about him,” said Nicki. “That’s just how it is.”

6ix9ine has been placed in the general population at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center as he awaits his bail hearing. He was arrested and indicted on six federal charges, including discharging a firearm while committing a crime, which carries a max sentence of life in prison.
