Over three years since her last album, the R&B veteran returns with her new single “Commitment.” Over the stripped-down arrangement, Monica shares exactly what she’s looking for in a relationship—loyalty, trust, patience, and good sex.

“I just need someone to love me when it’s hard to / I can trust with all my issues,” she sings. “Someone who is patient and consistent / I need good sex and commitment.”

She asks her lover if he’s up for the task. “Can you be there when I need you most and when I say I don’t?”

Monica has been in the studio with Polow Da Don and PJ Morton working on Chapter 38, her first album since 2015’s Code Red, which will be released independently on her label MonDeenise Music.
