Lil Wayne and Drake’s bond is solid as a rock.
Weezy showed his appreciation for his protégé by buying him an iced-out chain and pendant. The custom gift features Drake’s favorite number “6” in diamonds and was designed by jeweler to the stars Eliantte, who showed off the shiny accessory on Instagram.
Since signing the 6 God to Young Money, Drake and Wayne have remained close. Drake even has a tattoo of his mentor on his left tricep.
In November, Drake brought out Lil Wayne during his “Aubrey and the Three Migos Tour” stop at Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena.
Weezy also hinted at a sequel to 2014’s co-headlining “Drake vs. Lil Wayne” tour. “I can’t wait to get back on that stage and we do our own tour again,” Tunechi said during a videotaped speech at Drake’s Atlanta tour stop.
Drizzy and Tunechi have teamed up on numerous hits throughout the years, including “The Motto,” “HYFR,” “I’m On One,” and “Believe Me.”
They collaborated for Wayne’s most recent album Tha Carter V, but the song was left off due to clearance issues. “He had a song that didn’t get cleared,” said Weezy during TIDAL’s #CRWN series. “People be tripping when they find out who it is or when they found out what the subject of the song is about. They don’t want that to represent their names. You really don’t know why they say no, but that’s my opinion.”
