Video: Teyana Taylor - 'WTP'
Teyana Taylor proves she’s not your average showgirl in the long-awaited video for “WTP.”
Inspired by Cinderella, the nearly 9-minute short film celebrates ballroom culture (“Ballroom dancing is self expression,” says one dancer) and features cameos from familiar faces including “Love & Hip Hop’s” Milan Christopher and model Shaun Ross. Teyana plays the Cinderella character from the House of Petunia, who does the chores around the house and styles the dancers, with dreams of one day going to the ball.
“I just don’t understand why I’m not good enough to work my pussy at the ball,” she says.
While Teyana stays home doing dishes, an epic ballroom dance competition unfolds. Her “Fairy Cunt Motha” eventually appears and encourages her to follow her dreams: “Save your tears, honey. You’re a motherfuckin’ diva.”
Rocking a red wig, Miss Taylor heads to the ball where she impresses everyone with her show-stopping moves and outfits. She even catches the eye of Lena Waithe, who tries to find out the identity of the mystery dancer. “Some real next level. Looked like Grace Jones and Janet Jackson had a baby,” she says.
Teyana also shares some steamy scenes alongside her husband Iman Shumpert and some giant inflatable breasts in the clip, which she directed.
“WTP” is one of eight tracks off Teyana’s album K.T.S.E., which was released last June.
