J. Cole Reveals He's Having Another Child

  /  07.05.2019

J. Cole has another one on the way.

The Dreamville compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III arrived last night featuring appearances from J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, T.I., DaBaby, Ty Dolla $ign, and more. On the album closer “Sacrifices,” which also features EarthGang, Smino, and Saba, the Dreamville boss makes a big revelation that he’s expecting a second child with wife Melissa Heholt.

“She gave me the gift of my son, and plus we got one on the way,” Cole raps on the track (via HipHop-N-More). “She gave me a family to love, for that, I can never repay / I’m crying while writing these words, the tears, they feel good on my face.”

This would be the second child for Cole and his wife. The private couple also has a son, which Cole rapped about on “She’s Mine, Pt. 1” and “She’s Mine, Pt. 2” off 4 Your Eyez Only. Fans originally thought he had a daughter until a 2018 interview with Angie Martinez.

“But I feel like I’ve created a life where my purpose is too much placed in music,” he said. “When I’m home and I come home, outside of like playing with my son, if I go three days without doing music, making a beat, writing a song…I start to feel like, miserable.”

Cole and Heholt met while both were attending St. John’s University in Queens, New York, and have been together for more than a decade. Heholt is an event planner and the executive director of Cole’s Dreamville Foundation.
