Tyga Pays Tribute to Lil Wayne in 'Lightskin Lil Wayne' Video

Tyga salutes the GOAT.

T-Raww pays homage to his mentor Lil Wayne in the video for “Lightskin Lil Wayne” off his latest album Legendary. The video starts with “A Tribute to the GOAT” before Tyga recreates Weezy’s “A Milli” video. A shirtless Tyga emerges from his tour bus before mimicking scenes from the 2008 clip, which was shot in the same downtown L.A. location.

Additionally, he recreates scenes from other iconic Weezy videos including “Fireman,” “Go DJ,” “Lollipop,” and “Hustler Musik / Money On My Mind.”

“I don’t do this shit to entertain / Soaking bitches with the champagne / I’m the new lightskin Lil Wayne,” boasts Tyga.

Lil Wayne himself appears on “On Me” off Tyga’s gold-certified album Legendary. Tyga, who was previously signed to YMCMB, also paid homage to Weezy’s 2005 album Tha Carter II with his Legendary album cover.

“Wayne helped me grow into this person and really just inspired me and mentored me through the years,” Tyga told Apple Music’s Beats 1. “He signed me when I was 17. I was over there when he was doing Carter III so, that whole process, I had somebody to look [up] to as far as like, this is how I should do it.”
