Wale Celebrates Women's Equality Day with 'BGM'

  /  08.26.2019

In honor of Women’s Equality Day, Wale celebrates black queens everywhere on his new song “BGM (Black Girl Magic).”

On the uplifting track, the D.C. rapper spreads love (“Show me a lil’ black girl magic”) and shouts out some famous females (“Every ‘Empire’ needs a Taraji”). He also pushes for equal pay: “Sometime it be really so hard for ya / White boy paid more same job as ya / The least I can do is write a song then I’ll ‘mwaah’ that part of you.”

“BGM” follows “On Chill” with Jeremih, which entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 86 and racked up over 20 million streams.

Wale is now gearing up to release a new album, his first on Warner Records, this fall. He will also hit the road on his “Everything Is Fine Tour,” which kicks off Sept. 30 in Fort Lauderdale and wraps Oct. 28 in Seattle.
