Stream Kevin Gates' Sophomore Album 'I'm Him'

Nearly four years since his platinum-certified debut Islah, Kevin Gates delivers the next chapter with his sophomore album I’m Him.

The Baton Rouge MC bares his pain and soul on the 17 tracks, which contain no features. In addition to summer anthems “Push It” and “Facts,” standouts include “Ice Box,” “By My Lonely,” “Let It Go,” and the emotional “Betta for You,” written for his daughter.

“All of those negative connotations the world puts out…I’m him,” said Gates. “All of those positive connotations the world puts out…I’m him as well. This is the new Kevin verses the old Kevin. It’s a celebration. It’s a rebirth. It’s redemption. I’m overcoming who I used to be in order to be greater.”

In addition to dropping the album, Gates has debuted a music video for the opening track “RBS Intro,” which was filmed in Amsterdam.

Next up, he will embark on a North American headline tour in support of the album, starting Oct. 12 in Chicago and running through Nov. 30 in Seattle.
