Jamie Foxx Transforms for Mike Tyson Biopic

Jamie Foxx is getting in fighting form.

The Oscar-winning actor is set to star as Mike Tyson in the long-awaited biopic Finding Mike, and he’s committed to the role. In order to become the former heavyweight boxing champ, he started preparing months ago.

On Thursday, he shared the ripped results of his hard work on his friend Mark Birnbaum’s Instagram Live show and later on his own Instagram page. In the mirror selfies, a shirtless Foxx flaunts his bulging biceps and toned torso.

His intense workout regimen includes 60 pull-ups, 60 dips, and 100 push-ups every other day. His goal is to be 216 pounds by the time the movie starts filming and increase to 230 pounds.

“The transformation begins… ‘FINDING MIKE’. It is no secret that I have been pursuing the @miketyson biopic for some time… people always ask me when is it going to happen?… things have finally lined up…” Foxx told his followers. “A few months ago we started the journey… The first but biggest task is to transform the body… with a regiment of pull-ups dips and push-ups we are off to a pretty good start… we have a ways to go but God willing.”

But he’s not done bulking up. “I shared these early pics of the process… like I said we have a ways to go… But I am prepared to get there!” he added.

Jamie has been attached to the role since at least 2014, but there were doubts that the movie would ever be made. “Doing biographies is a tough thing. Sometimes it takes 20 years to get it done but we officially got the real ball rolling,” he said. “I can’t wait to show people what it is.”

Foxx first met Tyson at his standup comedy show when he was 22, during which he told a joke about the boxer who was sitting in the audience.

“I saw him at the height of his career, and then when things got bad, when things got bumpy, I also saw him as well. So what I’m excited about the movie is to show those moments,” he said. “I think everyone from young and old will be able to understand this man’s journey.”
