Takeoff Denies Rape Allegations

Takeoff is denying allegations that he raped a woman.

The Migos rapper has responded to a lawsuit from a woman claiming that he raped her at a house party in June, calling the allegations “patently and provably false.”

In a statement to TMZ, his attorney, Drew Findling, said his client is innocent. “We have reviewed the allegations and have similarly done our own due diligence. What has become abundantly clear is that the allegations made against Takeoff are patently and provably false,” said Findling. “The claims and statements made regarding this lawsuit indicate that the plaintiffs’ representatives have not spoken with relevant witnesses or reviewed available evidence.”

Findling said Takeoff was targeted in the situation. “Takeoff is renowned for his artistic talent as well as his quiet, reserved and peaceful personality. In this instance, those known personality traits have made him a target of an obvious exploitative money grab,” he added. “As his counsel, we are well aware and well versed on the importance of civil and criminal prosecution of true sexual assaults. This is not one of those situations.”

The woman, identified in court papers as Jane Doe, alleges that Takeoff made her uncomfortable during the party at DJ Durel’s house in Encino, Calif. before he sexually assaulted her in an upstairs bedroom after she refused his advances. She believed she was meeting Durel for a date, but when she arrived at the house, there were multiple people there in a party setting.

The woman went to a hospital the same day and claims the staff observed “physical evidence of forceful rape” and notified the Los Angeles Police Department, according to The New York Times. A spokeswoman for the LAPD said that an investigation has been opened.

The woman’s lawyer, Neama Rahmani, said she met Durel at another party and connected with him over social media before he invited her to his house. She has not been in touch with Durel or Takeoff since that night.

“This was her one and only encounter with Takeoff, and she hasn’t spoken to Durel since,” said Rahmani.
