Miguel Drops 'Funeral' Video

  /  10.09.2020

One year after releasing the song, Miguel dances with the devil in the dark and twisted video for “Funeral.”

The black-and-white clip, co-directed by Philippa Price and Nina McNeely, opens with the R&B singer standing on top of a pile of bodies before being tied up to a mattress. Donning eyeliner and body glitter, a possessed Miguel dances alongside his demonic co-stars before being laid to rest in a coffin.

“I can’t believe it’s been nearly a year since we filmed this,” said Miguel. “Way before we had any notion of how different our world would be just a couple short months later. Because this is just the beginning of a new, lush chapter in my artistry, what I loved most about working with Philippa is how easily she and Nina took my vision to the next level. They are both beautifully insane and I love that.”

Miguel, who recently performed during Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Vol. 2 show, is now readying the fourth installment in his Art Dealer Chic EP series, which started in 2012.

“I took a long hiatus from the business of music to reassess my objective as a creator,” he said. “The Art Dealer Chic EPs have always been reserved for freedom, self-curation and honest expression without the influence of music industry politics. I’m excited to introduce my fans to a very different world in my creative expression, and that begins with ADC 4.”

“Funeral” is the first official release from Miguel since his 2017 album War & Leisure.
