Beyoncé Leads Grammy Nominations

  /  11.24.2020

Beyoncé is queen of the Grammys.

The global superstar leads with nine nominations in eight categories, including Record and Song of the Year for “Black Parade,” her Black pride anthem released in honor of Juneteenth. Beyoncé, who has won 24 Grammys throughout her career, will compete against herself in the Record of the Year category as a featured guest on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage.”

Other top nominees include Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, and Roddy Ricch with six nominations. DaBaby, Justin Bieber, and Billie Eilish follow with four nods, along with Megan Thee Stallion, who was nominated in categories including Best New Artist and Record of the Year for “Savage.”

Jhené Aiko received three nominations including Album of the Year and Best Progressive R&B Album for Chilombo and Best R&B Performance for “Lighting & Thunder,” her song with John Legend.

The late Pop Smoke picked up his first nomination for Best Rap Performance for “Dior,” while Nipsey Hussle earned another posthumous nomination for “Deep Reverence,” his collaboration with Big Sean and Hit-Boy.

The most glaring omission was The Weeknd. Despite releasing one of the biggest albums of the year, After Hours, the Super Bowl performer was absent from all categories. Kanye West, who has won 21 Grammys, scored one nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Jesus Is King.

To be eligible, recordings must have been released between Sept. 1, 2019 and Aug. 31, 2020. Hosted by Trevor Noah, the 63rd annual Grammy Awards will air live on Jan. 31 on CBS.
