Lil Wayne Says 'F**k the Grammys'

  /  03.15.2021

Lil Wayne is the latest artist to join the Grammy boycott.

Following Sunday’s show, the Young Money rapper took to Twitter to put the Grammys on blast.

“Fuk the Grammys,” Wayne tweeted Monday. However, he did not explain the reason behind his sentiment.

Wayne has earned 26 nominations throughout his career and won five Grammys. He didn’t receive any nominations this year despite releasing his Funeral album in January 2020. His last win was in 2016 for Best Rap Performance as a featured guest on Chance the Rapper’s “No Problem.”

Beyoncé made history as the most decorated female artist in Grammy history with her 28th win on Sunday. She now ties Quincy Jones for second-most Grammy wins ever.

Wayne is the latest artist to criticize the Grammys. The Weeknd, who was shut out of the nominations, announced that he was boycotting the show going forward. “Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys,” he told The New York Times.

Zayn, who previously cursed out the Grammys, also demanded that the Recording Academy end the secret committees. “I’m keeping the pressure on & fighting for transparency & inclusion. We need to make sure we are honoring and celebrating ‘creative excellence’ of ALL,” he tweeted.

Wayne’s Young Money associates Drake and Nicki Minaj have also taken the Grammys to task in the past.
