Cardi B, Lil Durk, & Megan Thee Stallion Lead BET Hip-Hop Awards Nominations

Cardi B, Lil Durk, and Megan Thee Stallion lead the nominations for the 2021 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

All three rappers tied with nine nods each at the 16th annual show, which will air next month.

Cardi B, who just gave birth to her second child, is nominated in categories including Song of the Year, Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, and Best Collaboration for “WAP,” along with Best Live Performer, Hustler of the Year, and Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse for Migos’ “Type Shit.”

Lil Durk’s nods include Song of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, and Best Collaboration for “Laugh Now Cry Later” with Drake, as well as Best Duo or Group (with Lil Baby) and Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse for Pooh Shiesty’s “Back in Blood.”

Megan Thee Stallion is nominated for Hip-Hop Album of the Year (Good News) and Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, as well as Song of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, and Best Collaboration for “WAP.” She also received nods for Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Hustler of the Year, and Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse for “On Me (Remix)” with Lil Baby.

Drake follows with eight nods including Song of the Year and Best Hip Hop Video (“Laugh Now Cry Later”), while Tyler, the Creator and Metro Boomin tied for third-most nominations with four apiece.

Other multiple nominees include 21 Savage, DJ Khaled, J. Cole, and Pooh Shiesty, with three nods each. BIA, Chris Brown, Doja Cat, JAY-Z, Lil Nas X, Migos, Nicki Minaj, Roddy Ricch, Saweetie, Young Thug, and Yung Bleu received two nominations each.

The 2021 BET Hip-Hop Awards will tape from Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Oct. 1 and will broadcast Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
