Summer Walker Covers Erykah Badu's 'Bag Lady'
Summer Walker got in her bag while paying homage to Erykah Badu.
Fresh off the release of her sophomore album Still Over It, the R&B songstress performed a stripped-down cover of “Bag Lady” for BBC 1Xtra’s Live Lounge. Accompanied by her band, Summer put her soulful spin on the Mama’s Gun classic.
Just last month, Summer had the chance to share the stage with her idol at a concert in Atlanta.
“best day of my life besides bubbles being born,” she recalled. “I got to share the stage with my FAVORITE artist. I’m fan girling right now lol She’s such a blessing, my doula , my idol, love you @erykahbadu.”
The kindred spirits also interviewed each other for Rolling Stone‘s “Musicians on Musicians” issue last year.
During her Live Lounge set, Summer also performed her Over It hit “Playing Games” and “Toxic” off her new album Still Over It, which broke Apple Music’s record for most streams in a day by a female artist.
