Keyshia Cole Mourns Father's Death
Keyshia Cole is mourning the death of her adopted father.
The singer’s dad, Leon Cole Jr., passed away from COVID-19 complications last week.
She confirmed his death after a fan shared their condolences. “I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your father!! I’m praying for you and your family during this difficult time!!” wrote the Twitter user, to which Keyshia replied, “Thank you.”

On Tuesday, Keyshia took to Instagram to share a touching tribute to the man who raised her.
“Unfortunately my father didn’t make it through his complications, due to covid-19,” Keyshia wrote alongside a photo of her dancing with her dad and another with her adopted mother, son Daniel, and late biological mother, Frankie Lons.
“He’s the entire reason my last name is COLE,” she continued. “The only father I knew, he did such a great job here on earth!!!!! He made sure (Even tho he wasn’t my biological father) to keep a stable foundation and roof over all of our heads during our upbringing!!!!”
In her heartfelt post, she also shared the many lessons she learned from her “very wise” father. “Taught me and my siblings that knowledge is power!! He was very dedicated to learning and sharing his strong thoughts and opinions on the Bible and religion, and His loving passion for Yahweh Elohim with also Our many long talks of love and how a man needs to treat a woman.”
“Maybe the reason a man hasn’t been able to hold on to me too long,” she joked.
Leon was married to Keyshia’s adopted mother, Yvonne Cole, for 51 years. “He was the greatest example of love,” she added. “Seriously the most loving guy I’ve ever known.”
This is the second loss Keyshia has experienced in the past few months. In July, her biological mother, Frankie Lons, died from a reported drug overdose. She was 61.
“And he’s gonna be missed so much! I hate that this has happened !!! And that I’ve now lost two beautiful souls within a few months from each other,” wrote Keyshia.
