Dr. Dre Spending Millions of His Own Money on Super Bowl Halftime Show

  /  01.06.2022

In one month, Dr. Dre will headline the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

A new report from TMZ claims that the newly-single rap icon is spending a ton to make sure the show is one to remember. He is reportedly fronting most of the money needed to pull off his performance, which is in the millions.

However, he could lose millions if the recent COVID-19 surge cancels the Super Bowl. Dre has event cancelation insurance to cover any calamity that might derail the halftime show, but there’s an exclusion for COVID, which means the insurance policy will not reimburse Dre if the show is axed.

It is likely that the show will go on as planned, but the crowds could be scaled back or even eliminated due to the ongoing pandemic. The other possibility is that the game could be moved to another venue in a different city.

The 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show is slated for Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. The show is sure to be nothing short of spectacular. Dre will be joined by Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar.

“The Super Bowl performance should be something special because [Dre] really wanna give the people what they want,” Snoop told “The Breakfast Club” last year. “This is an L.A. moment.”

Dre is not the first Super Bowl headliner to put up his own money. The Weeknd reportedly invested $7 million into his dazzling 2020 halftime performance.
