Jim Jones Calls Out Gucci for 'Racial Profiling'

  /  02.09.2022

Jim Jones is putting Gucci on blast.

The Dipset rapper is accusing the luxury brand of racial profiling after shopping at one of their stores. He documented his experience in an Instagram Story, claiming that he wasn’t given the treatment he deserved as a loyal VIP customer, who was about to spend $30,000.

“Since we came here, nobody came and showed us no courtesy, no amenities, no nothing, period. Not even a drink of water,” he said.

He asked to speak to the manager and a Black employee came out and told him “some bullshit.” “They got the Black guy racial profiling on Black people,” Jones said.

He complained that he didn’t have a salesperson in his VIP suite and didn’t receive any sparkling water or champagne. “I had to keep screaming for VIP people to help me out,” he said. “I’m tired of this. We spending all this money as entertainers inside these stores. They hire these Black people and these Black people are more racist than white people when they get their job inside of Gucci.”

He claims that he ran up a $29,000 tab, but hadn’t paid yet. “Why would we? They still haven’t sent a manager or a bottle of sparkling water or anything that says that we appreciate your service for being here in Gucci and spending that bag.”

Back in 2019, Jones went to bat for Gucci after the brand came under fire from the Black community for releasing a sweater that resembled Black face.

“Don’t ask me about Gucci goofy,” he captioned a photo of himself dressed in a Gucci hoodie and belt. “When [Dapper Dan] start sellin 2 DD’s instead of 2 GG’s I will stop rockin it but until then eat ur heart out.”

Rappers including T.I. and Soulja Boy announced plans to boycott the brand, but Jones seemed to oppose the idea. “Any rappers have a issues wit tht I’m never hard to find AMEN,” he wrote.

Amid the controversy, Jones dropped a video for “Batman” featuring VL Deck off his DJ Drama mixtape, Gangsta Grillz: We Set the Trends.
