Travis Scott Teases 'Utopia' with Coachella Billboards

  /  04.11.2022

Utopia is coming.

Travis Scott appears to be getting closer to releasing his long-awaited album. Billboards teasing the project have appeared alongside the I-10 highway leading to this weekend’s Coachella festival in Indio, Calif.

The official Cactus Jack Instagram account shared photos of the four billboards. One reads “PSST…….,” while another features the Cactus Jack logo. Another billboard asks, “Looking for UTOPIA?” followed by one that says “WRONG WAY!”

Fans shared their excitement while speculating as to what this means. “OMG ITS HAPPENING,” commented one, while another interpreted it as a sign that Travis’ rumored mixtape Dystopia will drop before the album. “It says wrong way because we must look for dystopia first and after utopia.”

Travis was set to headline Coachella in 2020 before the two-weekend festival was canceled in the wake of the pandemic. After the Astroworld tragedy in November, which resulted in 10 deaths, promoters decided not to rebook him.

However, he was expected to join Kanye West during his headlining set before Ye pulled out at the last minute. There were reports that Travis was in talks to replace Ye on the bill following the cancelation. However, The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia were ultimately booked for Sunday’s closing slot.

Utopia, the follow-up to 2018’s Astroworld, was delayed in the wake of the deadly festival. It’s unclear when the album will drop. Ahead of Astroworld, Travis released a pair of tracks, “Mafia” and “Escape Plan.”

In an interview with Billboard in January, producer Wheezy revealed that he was headed to Mexico to put the “finishing touches” on the album, which will reportedly showcase a “whole new sound.”

“I’m working with some new people and I’m just trying to expand the sound,” Travis told i-D magazine last year. “I’ve been making beats again, rapping on my own beats, just putting everything together and trying to grow it really. That’s been one of the most fun things about working on this album. I’m evolving, collaborating with new people, delivering a whole new sound, a whole new range.”
