Playboi Carti Says Iggy Azalea Is the 'Best Mother in the World'

Playboi Carti has a whole lotta love for Iggy Azalea.

Despite a contentious past, the “Sky” rapper had nothing but kind words to say about the mother of his son. In a rare interview with XXL, Carti opened up about his relationship with Iggy and revealed why she’s the “best mother in the world.”

“She’s a great mom. I love her to death,” he told the magazine before confirming that they are no longer together. “I’m single. She’s single now. But that’s one of the best mothers in the world. And that’s what you got to put in the book, you hear me? I love her to death. She is the best mother in the world.”

He also gushed about being a dad to his son Onyx, who turns two this month. “I got him a crazy chain, too,” he said of his birthday gift for Onyx. “He’s going to be a problem. That’s who you need on the next cover. He’s beautiful.”

And he wasn’t done singing Iggy’s praises. When asked if there was anything he wanted to add, Carti responded, “Yeah, just make sure [put in] that I love my baby mother. It definitely needs to be known that [Iggy] is the best mother in the world. My son is perfect. He’s too perfect. I need to rough him up a little bit.”

In October 2020, Iggy revealed that she had split from Carti, whom she started dating in late 2018. Later that year, she put her ex on blast for allegedly cheating and being an absent father.

The former couple appears to be on good terms now. Last month, Iggy shared a new photo of Onyx with her Instagram followers.

Elsewhere in his XXL interview, Carti announced the tentative title of his next album, Music, the follow-up to 2020’s Whole Lotta Red. “I was about to name my album Music because that’s where I’m at, you know what I’m saying? Music.”
