LOS ANGELES, California — Kanye West leads the nominees for the 1st Annual Rap-Up Awards with six nods, it was announced Monday.
West’s Graduation was nominated for Best Album, a category that also includes Common’s Finding Forever, M.I.A.’s Kala, Timbaland’s Shock Value, and Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black. The Chicago rapper also picked up nominations for Best Male Artist, Best Single for “Stronger,” Best Video for “Good Life” featuring T-Pain, Most Fly, and Best Album Cover.
Other top nominees included Beyoncé with five followed by Rihanna, T.I., and Amy Winehouse with four apiece.
Vying for Best Single along with “Stronger” are Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable,” “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse, Timbaland’s “The Way I Are” featuring Keri Hilson and D.O.E., and Rihanna’s “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z.
Nabbing nominations in the Best New Artist category are Keri Hilson, Lil’ Mama, Chrisette Michele, Robin Thicke, and Amy Winehouse.
Nominations in the 13 categories were selected by the editorial staff at Rap-Up magazine. Winners will be determined through online voting at staging-rapup.kinsta.cloud. Voting ends October 12. Winners will be published in the December/January 2008 issue of Rap-Up.
