Jermaine Dupri and Island Records are parting ways after almost two years. The rapper-producer-mogul is reportedly no longer president of the label’s Urban Music division, according to Variety.

J.D. was rumored to be on the outs after his girlfriend Janet Jackson severed ties with Island last year after only releasing one album, Discipline, which sold 428,000 copies.

“We didn’t get the support from the record company,” one of the album’s producers Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins disclosed via his Darkchild Vlog on Rap-Up TV. “[Janet] felt like it wasn’t pushed. I felt like it wasn’t pushed correctly. She just didn’t get her just due as an artist of that magnitude.”

No word on J.D.’s next moves or plans for his Procter & Gamble-backed TAG Records venture.
