Erykah Badu

Erykah Badu gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday, and in what could be a first for a celebrity, tweeted during her labor. It’s the Grammy-winning soul singer’s first child with rapper-producer Jay Electronica and her third overall.

Badu blogged about the child’s home birth. “I can’t believe it’s over. Home birth, no pain killers, ’bout 5 hours. She was lil’ passed [sic] due date, but I didn’t mind waiting,” she wrote.

She shared the baby’s name with her thousands of Twitter followers. “We named the baby Twitty Milk.”

Father Jay Electronica also shared his feelings on the birth through the popular micro-blogging site. “My first child, my daughter, was born at 1:30 p.m. exactly. It’s the happiest day of my life.”

“I’m tired. But I wanted to show love and appreciation for all of your beautiful thoughts. We are blessed and highly favored,” the “Tyrone” hitmaker wrote in her last Twit of the day.

Badu has two previous children with OutKast’s André 3000 and West Coast MC The D.O.C.

UPDATE: Erykah Badu has confirmed her daughter’s name as Mars Merkaba.
