Jim Jones a.k.a. Capo might be one of the greatest hustlers that the rap game has ever seen. Once the best friend and hype man of Cam’ron, Jimmy has finally come into his own as a true leader, business man, and entrepreneur. This Harlemite has left the behind-the-scenes world for good and stepped into the limelight with a new documentary, This is Jim Jones.
staging-rapup.kinsta.cloud got the chance to preview the doc in New York City, available to the masses May 12, and though Jim Jones himself wasn’t in attendance, his boisterous personality and always entreating diplomatic roadies made for an enjoyable flick.
The documentary features appearances by Dame Dash, Juelz Santana, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Rick Rubin, Ludacris, Lil Wayne, Young Buck, and T.I., among many others. Jimmy is shown dealing with the realities of being a rapper, culminating with his new album Pray IV Reign, and teaming up with Dame as they travel across the country meeting movies executives, getting kicked out of countless clubs, and ultimately creating the buzz for his fourth studio album.
With Jim Jones and Cam’ron still at two different ends of the spectrum, this story detailing Jim’s life sheds some badly needed light on one of hip-hop’s biggest “divorces,” which leads some to ponder if a reconcile will come in the near future. As for right now, the “Na Na Nana Na Na” MC is focused on himself, his team, and his money—friendship comes a distant second.
