Lady Gaga gives birth to the striking video for “Born This Way,” the record-breaking single from her album of the same name, due May 23. The pop provocateur, who co-directed the clip with photographer Nick Knight and the Haus of Gaga, narrates a story of good versus evil before the music kicks in and she hits choreographer Laurieann Gibson’s cues, modeling a handful of outrageous looks including skeleton chic and twisted fairy godmother.

“It looks completely different than everything I’ve ever done,” Gaga told Billboard. “It is the birth of the new race. Really deep stuff.”
