The last time Nicki Minaj went on the road with her Young Money boss Lil Wayne, she appeared only briefly during his “I Am Music” tour in 2009. But for the trek’s sequel across North America, the Harajuku Barbie has a much bigger show planned for her Barbz.
The Queens raptress couldn’t contain her excitement surrounding the “I Am Music II” tour while speaking on set of her “Super Bass” music video. “Oh my God, I’m very excited to be touring with Wayne. The last time I toured with Wayne, I was on stage for three minutes,” she told MTV News. “Now I have my own set, I have my own lighting, my own costumes, my own dancers, my own everything… This is what I’ve been praying for for like a very long time.”
While her debut Pink Friday has gone platinum and she’s become one of the biggest rappers in the world, she admits she never saw this success on the horizon. “I did not see this coming,” she continued. “Shout out to my Barbz and my Ken Barbz. I have the best supporters in the world.”
The “I Am Music II” tour kicks off at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, on March 16. The hip-hop extravaganza, which also features Rick Ross, Travis Barker, and Mix Master Mike, hits cities including Miami, Atlanta, and Los Angeles before wrapping in Calgary on April 29.
