Season 12 “American Idol” winner Candice Glover shares her pain and sadness in the emotional video for her new single “Cried.”

In the black-and-white clip, directed by TAJ, the 24-year-old South Carolina singer has flashbacks of a violent childhood. She sheds tears while reflecting on happy times, with her mother giving birth, and how an abusive father tore the family apart.

The ballad, written by Jazmine Sullivan, will be featured on Candice’s upcoming debut Music Speaks, due February 18.
