Unhappily ever after. Jazmine Sullivan loses her faith in love in the video for her heartbreak ballad “Forever Don’t Last,” the second single off her first album in four years, Reality Show.
In the emotional clip, which she co-directed with her mother and Eshon Burgundy, Jazmine dreams of an everlasting relationship like her grandparents (who make cameos), but realizes that the fairytale romance doesn’t happen for everyone.
After calling off her wedding, she escapes to her grandparents’ farm. As tears roll down her face, she sends her ex a text before burning her white wedding dress and lighting a cigarette.
Reality Show is due next year featuring production from Salaam Remi, Anthony Bell, and Key Wane. “I’m really proud of it. I worked harder on this album than any album,” Jazmine told Rap-Up TV. “The songs are really colorful, just about life in general and reality from my eyes.”
Watch the sad ending to her love story.
