Rita Ora wants to remake “Lady Marmalade” with Miley Cyrus, Charli XCX, and Iggy Azalea, but social media (and Iggy) is having none of it.
When the 1970s-era Patti LaBelle song was covered by Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mya, and Pink for the Moulin Rouge film soundtrack in 2001, it topped the charts for weeks—and if Rita has her way, an all-new group of ladies could be taking on the song.
“I’m trying to round up the troops,” Rita said in an interview with The Sun. “I think it would be me, Miley [Cyrus], Charli XCX—she’d be fun—and Iggy [Azalea].”
While some fans were enthused, many on Twitter felt like the song should be left alone, including Iggy.
“Please leave me out of the whole Lady Marmalade conversation,” tweeted the “Fancy” rapper. “I have nothing to do with ritas ideas & agree it should be left alone. Thanks”
