August Alsina will close out the year with a new album. The New Orleans crooner has revealed a Dec. 11 release date for his sophomore LP This Thing Called Life.

He made the announcement in a dramatic trailer, which finds August tossing and turning in bed while he grapples with money, fame, and family. There are pills on the counter and he is seen smashing his plaque, while a police officer holds a gun to him in another scene.

“What is this thing called life?” he asks at the end.

August has also unveiled the black-and-white cover art, which finds him standing on a bridge in a pensive pose.

Last month, he debuted the first single “Song Cry,” while Lil Wayne guests on “Why I Do It.”

This Thing Called Life marks the follow-up to August’s 2014 debut Testimony, which opened at No. 2.
