After debuting the Timbaland-produced “Untouchable” last month, Pusha T has given another preview of his upcoming album King Push: Darkest Before Dawn.
Beats 1 radio’s Zane Lowe premiered the G.O.O.D. Music president’s latest single “M.F.T.R.” featuring The-Dream and produced by Boi-1da. The twinkling street anthem, whose title is an acronym for “More Famous Than Rich,” touts a hollow piano sample that hypnotically hums behind tough rhymes.
“I’m Kim Jong of the crack song / Gil Scott-Heron to the black poem / Woo, the revolution will be televised / ‘Cause we done see all and they telling lies,” spits the Clipse member on the cut.
The Virginia native explained the inspiration for the song after its premiere. “Even on social media, you have these people who are living these super wild lives, and it’s more like Insta-fake,” he said. “People are really way more famous than rich. That’s just something I’ve never been in the music game for.”
King Push: Darkest Before Dawn, the first installment in his King Push releases, drops Dec. 18. In addition to The-Dream, the album features contributions from Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Kehlani, Beanie Sigel, and Jill Scott.
