Doggy Style Records is back. Over 20 years since its launch, Snoop Dogg revives his label with The Return of Doggy Style Records, a 30-track compilation mixtape featuring a slew of artists ranging from Suga Free and Kokane to Davion Da Great.
One of those tracks is the soulful standout “Top Down” featuring October. Over Bongo’s production, Snoop delivers two smooth verses with his legendary laid-back flare. Then, October comes through with harmonies, singing about his hero.
“I’ve been booed offstage,” he sings over the soulful banger. “Overlooked and underpaid / But now I’m standing in the booth next to Snoop Dogg.”
Elsewhere, “Love Around the World” finds Snoop reflecting on his global icon status. “When I’m on tour, my spirit’s pure,” he raps. “I walk around the town and I explore / I’m greeted by 100 fans at my front door.”
