Meek Mill is on the Free Troy Ave campaign.

Following the Brooklyn rapper’s not guilty plea at Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday (May 30), where he was formally charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, his Philly comrade offered some words about the case.

“The laws they made ain’t designed to protect us,” Meek wrote on Instagram. “‘They like get killed or get a 100 years’ Don’t let the press ‘gas’ you to go against ya own people! Because if that was a cop Tryna protect his life the police force gone stand behind them 100% ‘Pic look crazy’ #freetroy & never let these ‘bum ass nobody ‘sucka’ crab in the barrel dudes pull you down! Meek is currently dealing with his own legal issues. The rapper is serving 90 days under house arrest for violating parole stemming from a 2009 drug and gun conviction. He turned himself in at the start of March.

Ave has been charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with a shooting in New York last week at Irving Plaza where T.I. was slated to headline a concert. Troy, who pled not guilty, is being held without bail until his trial.
