JoJo says “it’s time” for new music.

Nearly a decade after releasing her last album The High Road, the singer/songwriter is gearing up for her long-awaited third album. She delivered a preview of new material in a short YouTube video. In it, scenes flash in and out, from present day to her past, showing what an impact music has had on her throughout the years.

“Everything starts with music for me,” she says. “It’s been the most consistent thing in my life. I don’t have a shtick. I don’t have an angle. It’s just me and my music. It’s time.”

The soundtrack to the clip is a powerful cut about the same concept. “Everyone rises,” she sings. “Everyone falls / Everyone spends some nights alone / But every high and every low, you never left me on my own / Tell me what would I be without you.”

Another more upbeat song can also be heard in the last few seconds of the minute-long clip.

During her Rap-Up LIVE performance in April, JoJo said she was almost done recording the album, her first for Atlantic Records. “I’m so excited to soon be able to perform new music from this album that’s coming out soon,” she said. “I just came from the studio across the street. I have like three more days left of recording and then I don’t want to see another studio for at least six weeks.”

Last August, JoJo dropped a “tringle” of singles including “Say Love,” “Save My Soul,” and “When Love Hurts.”

Starting tomorrow, she will join Fifth Harmony on their “7/27 Tour”, which kicks off its North American leg in Manchester, New Hampshire.
