Video: 6LACK - 'Ex Calling'

BY Andres / 12.5.2016

Buzzing off the release of his debut FREE 6LACK, Atlanta rapper/singer 6LACK — pronounced black — unleashes a music video for “Ex Calling.”

The grainy black-and-white clip takes viewers on a not-safe-for-work trip to a strip club, where dollars bills fly around as women make it clap on stage in slow motion.

There’s a sense of sadness in 6LACK’s voice as he sings about a past romance. “Why the f**k my ex calling?” he asks while sporting a Justin Bieber “Purpose Tour” jersey. “Don’t know why my ex calling.”

This somber aesthetic exemplifies who 6LACK is, according to the buzzing artist. “You see monochrome, you see moody, you see for the most part somebody who is still in the process of figuring shit out,” he told The FADER. “I think the black and white pictures, and the black and white aesthetic, and the moody, dark aesthetic, it’s not something that I ever tried to do. It’s just who I am.”

“Ex Calling” is a remix of Future’s “Perkys Calling” off Purple Reign. It appeared on 6LACK’s album FREE 6LACK, which dropped last month.
