Following an unfavorable New Year’s Eve set, Mariah Carey gets some more bad news. Over the weekend, the singer’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was vandalized.
Taking a page out of the Riddler’s book, a vandal added a question mark to the end of Mimi’s name on the star so it read: “Mariah Carey?”
The Los Angeles Police Department is not taking this lightly, according to TMZ. They are reportedly investigating the issue for felony vandalism and pulling surveillance videos. Officials may have a lead as someone on Instagram claimed responsibility.
Restoring the star wasn’t cheap. The report claims that it cost $1,500 to clean up the mark, which is now gone.

Last year, a man named James Otis was arrested for destroying Donald Trump’s star on the Walk of Fame with a pickax. He later said it was to raise awareness on behalf of sexual assault victims and the many women who’ve accused the President-elect of harmful actions.
It is currently unclear why Mariah’s star was vandalized. The singer has been having a rough 2017 so far. In the past two weeks, she’s fired her creative director and released multiple statements on a glitch-filled performance on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.”
“They foiled me,” she recently said of the Dick Clark Productions team. “Thus, it turned into an opportunity to humiliate me and all those who were excited to ring in the new year with me.”
The investigation into the Walk of Fame vandal is ongoing.
