Another “Victory” for Joey Bada$$.
Ahead of his sophomore album ABBA, the New York rapper teams up with Mtn Dew and the NBA for his latest release, “Victory.”
The Kirk Knight and Adam Pallin-produced boom-bap-infused banger allows Badmon to flex his dexterous flow. “This feels like a victory,” he raps. “Competition is slim to me / It’s his story, it’s history / Homie, this is my story, no mystery.”
Packing his verses with basketball references, the track was made as part of “The Courtside Project,” a collaboration between Mtn Dew and the NBA.
This weekend, as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, Joey is set to perform the track for the first time and shoot a music video.
“I’m excited to be a part of The Courtside Project,” Joey told Billboard. “It’s the fusion of several different worlds — from basketball to music, style and art — that are not all separate streams anymore, they are interconnected. I always want to encourage the youth to be themselves and pursue their dreams, whether those are hoop dreams, Grammy dreams or PhD dreams.”
According to Joey, “Victory” will not appear on ABBA. “Victory is not on #aaba,” he tweeted. “It is a song that I did in collaboration with @MountainDew & @NBA for #AllStarWeekend.”

Bada$$ is on quite the streak. Last month, he unleashed a politically-charged freestyle for GQ and the anti-Donald Trump anthem “Land of the Free.” This year, Joey is poised to release his sophomore album, ABBA.
Last year, the Pro Era spitter spoke with Rap-Up about his forthcoming LP. “People will definitely feel an elevated, evolved Joey,” he said. “It’s gonna be way more high energy, high performance. I’m really just gonna speak for my generation.”
