Shortly after dropping his triumphant new single “Outlet,” Desiigner headed to Hot 97 for a freestyle session with Funkmaster Flex.

Sporting goggles and all black, the G.O.O.D. Music rapper used the acapella freestyle as an opportunity to address his 2016 arrest.

“12 tried to lock me up, but a ni**a beat the case,” he rapped. “Tried to put the drugs on me, guns on me / Why speed away? / I done jumped out…Made ni**as see the Wraith.”

In September, Desiigner was arrested after a man claimed the “Panda” hitmaker threatened him with a gun during a dispute on the road. Police found pills, which were later revealed to be steroids belonging to the driver of the vehicle.

“Ni**as is crazy,” the G.O.O.D. Music MC said at the time. “We back out here, man. You dig? Ni**as crazy. I heard ni**as say we had to sell pills? We don’t gotta do that shit no more, baby. We don’t do this no more, baby…Out here, man. Back in the city.”

By November of 2016, all of Designer’s charges were dropped and his record was cleared.

Up next, Desiigner is celebrating his “Outlet” single with the “Outlet Tour,” which kicks off April 2 in Seattle.
