B.O.Y. keeps on “Winning.” The trio—also known as Be Only You—continues building buzz with the release of their empowering single, which showcases the Atlanta-based group’s fusion of hip-hop and R&B.
Massachusetts MC Gianni “WildBoy” Champan, Virginia singer Miesha “B-Boy” Green, and North Carolina songstress Summer “RudeBoy” Killen make up the “Winning” combination, and in the clip, they also make up a killer paintball squad.
Directed by Curtis Bowens and DJAY The Jet, the clip finds the trio dancing, singing, and waving paintball guns around as they take over a junkyard course. “We can take over the world,” they sing with an infectious bounce and conviction. “Winning!”
“We just wanted to make a video that shows us women in a competitive light which is the reason why we engaged in a friendly paintball battle with the boys, because girls can do it too,” B.O.Y. tells Rap-Up. “Winning is about a woman recognizing her partner’s worth. Sometimes it’s up to us to be encouraging, we see you fellas! ‘Winning’ is how your partner should make you feel, like you won the lottery!”
Currently, B.O.Y. is working on new material that blends their multi-genre influences following their 2015 self-titled EP. “There’s not a lot of real, authentic R&B being made anymore,” says Summer. “And in hip-hop, they’re not making that boom-bap anymore. We just wanted to bring it all together and create something beautiful.”
“Winning” is now available on Apple Music and Spotify.
