Fresh off his Mike Will Made-It collaboration “Hasselhoff,” Lil Yachty takes Katy Perry’s “Chained to the Rhythm,” a socially conscious call to action, and flips it with a “BoatMix.”

Stripping the song of its pop production, Lil Yachty smoothes things out and delivers some oft-Auto-Tuned vocals.

“Feeling good, got good vibes, I can feel it in my feet,” he sings. “Take a shot, baby, loosen up, you the star of the scene / I went from reading magazines to being on the cover / Get up in the groove now / Let me see you move now.”

Later, he adds: “Take a shot, don’t think about the hangover / You can get drunk, ’cause baby, I’ma stay sober.”

Boat’s allusion to drinks could be a reference to Katy’s sarcastic lines on the original. “Yeah, we think we’re free,” she sings. “Drink! This one is on me / We’re all chained to the rhythm.”

Yachty, who recently starred alongside Carly Rae Jepsen in a Target commercial, is currently prepping his debut album Teenage Emotions for release this year.
