Before dropping his album All-Amerikkkan Bada$$, Joey Bada$$ unleashes yet another freestyle. After rhyming over Future’s “Mask Off,” he takes Miguel and J. Cole’s “All I Want Is You” instrumental from 2010.
Spitting on Los Angeles’ Power 106, Badmon unleashes a rhyme about his come-up and his love for his mother. “Got a vision and a plan that keep growing stronger,” he raps. “That’s on my mama / She still thinking about the diploma / That I never got, so I made her a business owner / Fuck it, it’s what I owed her.”
Blending braggadocios bars with thought-provoking rhymes, the Pro Era MC references conflict diamonds before flossing his intellect. “I’m good with the pressure, I make my diamonds in the rough,” he raps. “My skin is Sierra Leone tough / And now that we on up / It’s only right that we shine / This jewelry will blind you / But nah, I’m just checking time /Because I’m really referring to the jewels I got in mind / Because I’m so in-line with the divine.”
It’s fitting that Joey used a Cole-featured instrumental for this freestyle since Jermaine is set to appear on All-Amerikkkan Bada$$. The project, which also features ScHoolboy Q and Styles P, is due April 7.
