Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland is coming to Lifetime. The network has just released the first trailer for its forthcoming biopic on the King of Pop.

The film was based on Remember The Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days, a 2014 book penned by the late icon’s personal bodyguards Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard.

Famed Michael Jackson impersonator Navi takes on the role of the late legend. Meanwhile, Chad L. Coleman (“Walking Dead,” “The Wire”) stars as Whitfield and Sam Adegoke (Dynasty) portrays Beard.

The 45-second trailer begins on a somber note, as the bodyguards are asked if Dr. Conrad Murray killed Jackson. They say they weren’t present on the night of his passing. Murray was later found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s death.

Other scenes from the trailer depict the late superstar as a father. “He didn’t want to be the King of Pop,” says Whitfield. “He just wants to be Mike, a normal American dad.” Beard adds: “We loved that man. We were the only two people looking out for him.”

Michael Jackson: Searching For Neverland is set to premiere May 29 on Lifetime.
