Donald Glover is retiring Childish Gambino.

Over the weekend, the multifaceted artist said he would be making one “last Gambino album” during his Governors Ball set. On Monday (June 5), he confirmed the news during an interview with HuffPost.

“There’s nothing worst than like a third sequel,” he said. “Like a third movie and we’re like, ‘Again?’ You know, I like it when something’s good and when it comes back, there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that.

“I feel like there’s gotta be a reason to do things and I always had a reason to be punk,” he added. “Being punk just always felt really good to me and we always looked at ‘Atlanta’ as a punk show and I feel like the direction I would go with Childish Gambino wouldn’t be punk anymore. As much as ‘Redbone’ is a punk song because it’s a gospel song that’s on the radio, I’m like, ‘There’s only so far you can go before you just are the radio.'”

“Redbone” isn’t just a “punk” song. The Awaken, My Love! standout is also his highest-charting single to date, peaking at No. 17 this year. Prior to that, the highest he reached was No. 64 with “V. 3005.”

Even if he quits music, the new father’s career in film and television will keep his itinerary full. Up next, he’s set to work on the second season of FX’s Golden Globe-winning series “Atlanta.” He’s also developing an animated “Deadpool” series, and is set to star in Spider-Man: Homecoming, an untitled Han Solo Star Wars film, and a reboot of The Lion King.
